Fed up?

Whether you're an artist, musician or author — if something is quietly getting between you and your best creative work, this is where you come to deal with it.

Hi! I’m Dr. Bob 👋

That's me in my studio, where I've had to learn, sometimes the hard way, how to manage the challenges of being a working artist.

Here's something that might surprise you. Even after years as a psychologist, I struggled with creative anxiety and low artistic confidence. I knew exactly what was happening in my mind. I just couldn't seem to stop it.

Sound familiar?

Eventually I figured it out. I found focus, rebuilt my confidence, and got back to making work I'm genuinely proud of. Today I'm selling work, growing my community, and most importantly, enjoying the journey again.

But here's what drove me to create Creative Momentum Lab.

I kept meeting creatives just like you who were bright, talented, and passionate, but quietly struggling with distraction, self-doubt, and a nagging feeling that they weren't living up to their own creative potential. Just like I used to.

So I decided to do something about it.

Creative Momentum Lab brings together everything I've learned — both personally and professionally into short, practical courses and honest conversations about the real challenges of creative life. Evidence-based tools, yes. But delivered with warmth, humour, and the understanding of someone who has genuinely been where you are.

You can do this. I know because I did.

Bob

There is Hope.

But You've Probably Been Given the Wrong Advice

Creative people are often told, “Just keep going—just write more, paint more, play more—and the confidence will come.”

It’s well-meaning advice. And yes, doing the work helps you improve your craft. But when it comes to building confidence and reducing anxiety, that advice falls short.

Because confidence isn’t just about doing more—it’s about doing the right inner AND outer work.

You need specific tools and practices designed to help you face fear, manage your mind, and break free from the patterns that keep you stuck.

When you learn these essential skills, a lot begins to change.

You can stop white-knuckling your way through fear and start showing up as the confident, creative, and productive person you know you’re meant to be.

Podcasts and Courses

Colour and Ceramics Podcast

Bob takes you on a journey with top ceramic artists world-wide to talk about their journey, art, and the challenges they have as ceramic artists. While focused on the world of ceramics, he and these successful creators also talk about issues facing artists such self-doubt, distractions, perfectionism, and the challenges of financial success as an artist.

Mini Courses to Solve Creative Momentum Problems

Not as a creativity school. Not as an art technique resource. But as a place where creatives get honest, practical, evidence-based help with the things that quietly kill their momentum — self-doubt, distraction, perfectionism, comparison, burnout, and the financial precarity that makes all of it harder. Everything I built here draws on decades of work in psychology, lived experience as a working artist, and a deep respect for what the creative life actually asks of people.

Our first course XXX is designed to

Money and the Creative Life

Creatives often find themselves struggling with money. Our courses help artists, musicians, and authors understand finances and building financial health without abandoning their art.

“You need both the skills of confidence and technical competence to be a courageous creator. Only developing one of those skill sets won’t get you where you want to be.”

FAQs - Any Questions?

You mention competence. How do I get better at my artistic activity? If I’m an author, for example, can you help me be a better writer? No. This course will help you learn the skills of building confidence but if you need help learning some specific technical skills, you’ll need to seek out that knowledge with a mentor or classes specific to your area.

Is this therapy? No. Therapy aims to address mental health concerns and promote well-being through a structured, therapeutic relationship with a health professional, while an online course provides educational content and skills development and support without therapeutic intervention. Dr. Bob is retired from his profession, and is no longer a registered health professional.

What happens when this course ends? You can access all the material whenever you need to. Your membership gives you lifetime access.

Do I have to pay all the cost up-front? No. You can pay in two instalments with no extra administrative fee

Can I get my money back? Yes. If you’ve put effort into the course and you still haven’t seen improvement, then, after a conversation with us, we will refund your money (less a small admin fee to cover costs).

Is this course tax-deductible? Yes. We aren’t tax experts, so you should really consult with a tax expert, but most tax jurisdictions allow you to expense an activity, like a course, if you doing the activity ultimately to help you earn income. And most jurisdictions allow you to do this for a period of time before you earn money, if your intention is to earn income like selling art, books, or playing music for money.

What is the culture? The culture we create is a supportive, helpful one. We need to help build each other up, strengthen our skills, and acknowledge each others’ progress when they take action to build confidence. Above all, this is a place to learn, find support, get feedback, and feel inspired. I'd encourage you to post questions big or small and to offer feedback to your peers in a helpful, constructive way.

Still not sure? Here’s a little questionnaire to help you know if the course is right for you. Mini-Self-Assessment
